About this property

Welcome to The Melville Hotel

Located in a Georgian townhouse overlooking the quiet, tree-lined Argyle Square, The Melville Hotel offers a straightforward and casual stay in central London. The setting provides easy access to Kings Cross and St. Pancras International stations, just a short 3-minute walk away, making it especially convenient for travelers arriving or departing by train. Regent's Park lies approximately 1.3 miles from the property, while key attractions such as The British Museum, The National Gallery, and St. Paul’s Cathedral are within easy reach.

The Melville presents simple, modern rooms equipped with essentials like iPod docks and free Wi-Fi, with some units featuring kitchenettes. While the hotel is air-conditioned and pet-friendly, it does not include on-site dining facilities, pools, or a fitness center. Paid parking and an airport shuttle service are available, and the accommodation caters to both business and family travelers with accessible and kid-friendly amenities. Guest reviews frequently highlight the hotel’s great location and comfortable beds, though some note the need for improved maintenance and cleanliness, particularly in certain rooms.

Many guests appreciate the helpful and accommodating staff, as well as the practical layout of rooms, which can suit solo travelers, families, or those in transit. However, ongoing renovations during some stays have caused noise disruptions, and the older building means some rooms may feel dated or compact by London standards. Overall, The Melville suits visitors prioritizing location and value over upscale facilities, with easy public transport connections placing much of London’s key areas within convenient reach.

Yes rooms are not maintained and you are completely ignored as a guest, however perfect location, ok rooms and good value for money. We stayed for 4 nights in January and they were carrying out extensive room renovations so we couldn’t sleep/relax in the morning. Very loud, felt like construction site. Still I would recommend the hotel :)

Clean bathroom and comfy bed. Noise from building work day time and people outside in the evening. Suggest ear plugs which sort out the issue. An ok stay in a good location.

If you're looking for a location close to multiple subways lines and train lines, this is the spot. It has convenient access to multiple connections at Kings Cross Station. The hotel was undergoing some renovations when we were there. For London our room was a decent size for 4 people. We had 2 full beds and a little kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave, tea kettle and Nespresso machine. The bathroom was the only bad part. It appeared to be a pre-fabricated bathroom that had the sink, shower and toilet in an odd little capsule. Our room was built in the back yard and had access to a shared small patio.

Stayed at the Melville Hotel for one night. We had flown into London for one night as we were taking the train to Germany the next day. The location is a couple minute walk right to St. Pancras International train station. Nino at the front desk was so awesome and friendly. Our room wasn't ready, but we were able to leave our bags and they were brought to the room for us when we returned. This worked out great as there are no elevators and I was with my mother and aunt who are in their mid 60s. We stayed in the family room and it worked out great for us. There was a king bed and a queen bed. The shower door was broken, but we were able to close it and it worked out fine. Overall we had a great experience at the hotel and would stay there again as the location is perfect if traveling by train out of London.

I was in the nr 38 building, my friend in the 39. My room was much better than hers. I had a fan, a working safe, undamaged blinds, a window which opened, and two USB sockets. The room was comfortable for one person, it would have been small for two. The decorations were great, loved them. The staff was friendly and the location perfect.

I needed a last minute booking after not having slept in my travels for two days and they were extremely helpful and accommodating. The gentleman at the desk (didn't catch his name l, but he sounded French) went out of his way to help me get set up. The room itself was very solid, especially for last minute. It was modest, great for someone traveling solo or people who plan on spending very little time in their room. Could have been cleaner but you can tell it's an older building. Location is terrific right across the street from Kings Cross, restaurants, and shops. Overall awesome experience, big thanks to the staff at this hotel and the adjacent ones they also run.

The first experience with this hotel last year was, to say the least, disappointing. But we were generously invited to give it a second chance to make a first impression and boy, we were really glad we have accepted the 'challenge'. Refurbished, spacy rooms (it is London!) close to the international train station London St.Pancras/Kings Cross. The friendly approach of the staff was top class the first time and has not changed. There's no restaurant, but you will find great (Indian) food just around the corner.
